Open Staircases
Open staircases are stairs in which the riser, the piece of wood or other material between each stair is not there, so that as you climb the stairs you can see into the room below. These are considered a modern staircase that offer many benefits; gone are the say when you need to just settle for an ordinary, staircase! There are now many options, and an open staircase is just one of them.
When you are looking to either replace your staircase in your updated home or if you are building your project from scratch then you could hire an interior decorator or other design specialist to help you with the final theme of your rooms. The staircase is an often over-looked design ‘feature’ however, it is just as important to consider the safety and build of the staircase – only the best quality staircase will add value to your home. Something that is shoddily built will detract from its beauty.
There are few stair ‘designs’ you can consider when looking to install a new staircase; the final design will depend on the ‘look’ you are going for and the space you have available;
- Open staircases can be erected in a single, straight line as is common in many homes and building. The pitch of the stairs is made so that they are not too steep and you simply walk up the open staircase in a straight line.
- Open staircases can also be added in an L shape too, meaning that approximately half up way the stir, there is a turn in the staircase. The open staircase follows the line of the wall and can look effective in any home or building.
- Spiral staircases are another type of open staircase and are particularly effective in areas where floor space is at a premium. Spiral staircases can come in their own amazing ranges of design and finishes.
- Bespoke open staircase designs are for those spaces that require an architectural piece of design – in other words, a simple staircase will not do. Bespoke open staircases can take in many facets of design and structural principals, with some staircases
Whichever open staircase design you choose, you can be sure you are adding a unique perspective to your home. A well built staircase will add beauty and elegance and many interior design ‘tricks’ can be used to either make your open staircase stand out or blend in with the surrounding, whichever interior design look you choose.
